Letter to the Editor: Let's come together to find solutions to the challenges we face

When the District 13 Senate seat became vacant, I thought a lot about my connection and commitment to this community and what the vacancy meant for Jamestown and Newport. Unfortunately, we're at a point in time when politics have become bitter and divisive, with people feeling frustrated and disconnected from their government. As a woman who owns my own law practice and has been involved in local advocacy for years, I know we deserve better.

The Rhode Island National Organization for Women (RI NOW) has announced their endorsement of Dawn Euer in the Special Election for the open senate seat in District 13, representing Jamestown and Newport. The endorsement is the first endorsement officially issued by any group for the upcoming special election.

... Also in the hunt is lawyer and community organizer Dawn Euer, also a Democrat, who was part of the Marriage Equality Rhode Island team that fought for same-sex marriage in 2013. NEW: Euer Announces Candidacy for Paiva Weed’s Senate Seat

Newport resident Dawn Euer announced that she is running for state senate in District 13, the seat vacated by Senate President Teresa Paiva Weed. 

She is the second person to announce her candidacy in the last two days following Newport City Councilor John Florez’s announcement on Thursday.
